I firmly believe that breastfeeding offers your baby the best possible start in life and also benefits the mother.
The first milk, or colostrum, provides crucial antibodies that help keep your baby healthy until their immature immune system can develop its own defenses. Breastfeeding provides the ideal nutrition for your baby at every stage of their early development.
Some studies have suggested that breastfed babies have a slightly higher IQ than their formula-fed peers when starting school, and that advantage continues thru high school.
Mother’s Milk is Best
Milk from the breast is the most convenient way to feed your baby. It is always available, always the right amount, and always the right temperature. There is no mixing, measuring, or worries about contaminated water or sterilization. There are no bottles to wash or late-night bottle-warming to while you listen to your hungry baby cry.
Support Can Be Crucial To Success
While breastfeeding is the natural way to feed your child, unfortunately it doesn’t come naturally to all mothers. In long-ago times, every baby was breastfed, so there were many “experts” available to the new mother. If she was having difficulties, her mother, grandmother, or aunt could provide information and hands-on training to help both her and her baby figure out how to make it work. This is where I come in. I have experience breastfeeding my own children and can help you and your baby get the hang of it. There are many nursing positions and strategies that can help you be successful. By the time your baby arrives, you will be comfortable with me and relaxation is important to successful breastfeeding.
Bond With Mother
There is absolutely nothing more joyous or heart-warming than looking into your baby’s eyes and interacting with him while providing him with the best nutrition mother nature can devise. This is a special bonding time that only the two of you can share, and it is definitely worth any bumps or bruises along the way.
